Originally launched in 1998, and redesigned in June, the site is a "destination for people who want to be connected to all of the great things that NYRP is doing for our city," says Leila Burr, a former NYRP staff member who is now heading the strategy and development for the site through Tonic Group, a new media firm.
"We want the site to provide NYRP members with a sense of community," says Burr, "and a clear sense of what their dollars and volunteer efforts are accomplishing. There are so many wonderful things that NYRP is doing that most people are unaware of. The site is an excellent way to highlight the organization's many layers in a way that we hope will engage people, and encourage them to continue or expand their support."
The site provides visitors with a wealth of information about NYRP projects and initiatives. Through a secure online giving center, visitors can join NYRP or renew their membership, join Bette's Garden Club, endow a bench in an NYRP park or garden, or place a bid on NYRP auction items through links to the eBay web site.

According to Burr, the site will continue to grow over the coming months. An online NYRP store where visitors can purchase NYRP tote bags, caps, t-shirts, and other items is in the works.
Also on the horizon are printable maps of the NYRP park network; e-cards, screen savers, and wallpaper designs featuring images from NYRP parks and New York Garden Trust community gardens; historical background on NYRP parks and their adjacent neighborhoods; an extensive image gallery; a "Bette's Book Corner" archive; and much more.
Updates on site content will appear in future issues of Good Dirt, and members will soon be able to sign up for e-mail updates of NYRP activities. Pay a visit to nyrp.org soon!
