JERSEY CITY, N.J., Dec. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Trust Company of New Jersey (Nasdaq: TCNJ) today announced that effective January 2, 2003, William S. Burns, 43, will become chief financial officer. He will be responsible for financial management and reporting, including strategic planning, treasury, asset and liability management as well as investor relations. Burns is currently executive vice president and director of corporate development. He was appointed to that position in November 2002. Burns succeeds Michael A. Marinelli, who has announced his retirement.

Burns brings to his new position over twenty years of experience at major financial institutions. With increasing responsibility in each of his positions, he has overseen strategic planning, SEC compliance, regulatory and management reporting, audits, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and investor relations. Prior to joining Trust Company of New Jersey, Mr. Burns was director of corporate finance and investor relations at Dime Bancorp in New York City. His banking industry experience also includes senior positions at Ryan Beck, Summit Bank, The Bank of New York and Irving Trust Company.
