   Dr. Tom Burns co-founded and serves as CEO and Chairman of SET Corporation, an R&D company specializing in the development and deployment of highly advanced information technologies. Under Tom's leadership, SET has grown without venture investment to 50 employees and $12M in annual revenue, enjoying four years of sustained profitability. Prior to founding SET, Tom co-founded and served as COO of ObjectVideo Inc., a venture-backed leader in smart video solutions for commercial and military security applications. Tom joined ObjectVideo from DARPA, where he pioneered the development of model-based signal and image exploitation technologies, building on his experiences directing Computer Vision research as a United Stated Air Force Officer at AFRL. While assigned to AFRL, Tom led the Lab's premiere Automatic Target Recognition program, receiving AFRL's prestigious Peter R. Murray Program Manager of the Year award. Tom is co-inventor of patents on video and radar technology, and has published numerous refereed papers in areas as diverse as electro-optics and wavelet mathematics. He currently serves as Adjunct Faculty at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), sits on the Board of Yakabod, Inc., and serves as a member of the Washington D.C. Capital Executive Board. Tom received a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering and a B.A. Degree in Philosophy from The Ohio State University, and an M.S. Degree and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from AFIT.

   Tom brings over 20 years experience managing technology development organizations and projects to Yakabod,s Board. Tom brings our "tactical view" to the Board - he is currently founder and CEO of startup R&D services firm SET Associates.
   
   Self-financed, and profitable since its inception, SET has reached over $6M in annual sales in less than two years. Previously, as co-founder and Chief Operations Officer of ObjectVideo, Inc., Tom led the planning and execution of marketing, sales, business development, and product management strategies for a highly innovative commercial video technology company. Tom was instrumental in obtaining first and second-stage venture capital funding in difficult economic conditions, and for negotiating a comprehensive Japanese market distribution agreement.
   
   Prior to forming ObjectVideo, Tom served a four-year term as a DARPA Program Manager, leading distributed teams of experts to rapidly develop and field advanced information technologies. These initiatives included the world,s premier object recognition program, and the development of the first multimedia database for communication signals and reconnaissance imagery. Tom was a United States Air Force Officer, and holds a B.S. in Philosophy and B.S. in EE from Ohio State University, and a M.S. and Ph.D. in EE from the Air Force Institute of Technology.
   
   When Tom takes a break from his tech adventures, he and his family have discovered a passion for trek adventures, having recently completed an ascent of Kenya,s Mt. Kiliminjaro, and preparing for a forthcoming trek to Everest basecamp in Nepal.

   Dr. Thomas J. Burns, co-founder and Vice President of Partner Development, joined the company in July 1999. Tom brings more than 15 years experience of management and technology development to the company, and was instrumental in laying early groundwork in articulating ObjectVideo's message. Tom served as a United States Air Force Officer for 15 years. With a technical background in image processing sciences, he served a four-year term as a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Program Manager, directing multi-disciplinary experts to rapidly develop and field leading-edge information technologies. At DARPA, he led the world's premier vision-based object recognition program, and guided the development of the first multimedia database for military signals, images, and videos. Tom has conducted and published seminal research in space-time wavelets, and electro-optic image processing. As a career manager of advanced defense technologies, Tom's ability to identify promising, high-risk technologies and articulate a vision for use in real operations has been fundamental in developing effective marketing and business development strategies at ObjectVideo. Tom holds a BA in Philosophy and BS in Electrical Engineering from Ohio State University, and a Masters and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology.
