Burns was director of production for the Southwest Power Pool region of Central and South West Corporation prior to its merger with AEP in June 2000.His responsibilities included all CSW power plants in northeast Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma.He joined CSW's Southwestern Electric Power Company subsidiary in 1977 as a mechanical engineer and held various supervisory and management positions at the company's three-unit, coal-fired Welsh Power Plant.He later served as SWEPCO's manager of production, with responsibilities including power plants and the company's railcar maintenance facility in Nebraska, and then as manager of plant operations at SWEPCO and director of production at CSW's Public Service Company of Oklahoma subsidiary.

Burns is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.He completed the Executive Development Program at Louisiana State University.He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

He is a member of the Edison Electric Institute Supply Area Committee and past chairman of the Electric Power Research Institute's Fossil Power Plants Task Force and Operating Committee, as well as past chairman of the Southwest Power Pool Production Subcommittee.

Ted Burns is vice president -maintenance services for AEP Pro Serv, Inc.He oversees the maintenance and transportation services activities for the company.

Most recently Burns was vice president and region manager for the Southwest Region of AEP Pro Serv, Inc.In that role he had responsibility for project management, engineering, construction management, technical services and maintenance support provided to clients served out of the Southwest Region office.He assumed that role in February 2002 and was based in Dallas.Prior to that role he was vice president of fossil and hydro operations for AEP's western region, including operation of 16,000 megawatts of capacity in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas, as well as domestic and international IPP and cogeneration facilities.
