   Burns has been a long time member of the ABCD Board of Directors and has demonstrated strong leadership skills throughout her professional career in the education field and through her activism within her community.

   Burns participates in several professional organizations including the Belmont Teachers Association, Black Educators Alliance of Massachusetts, Delta Sigma Theta, Madison Park Community Council, Massachusetts Advisory Committee on Assessment and Basic Skills, Massachusetts Teachers Association, METCO Directors Association, National Alliance of Black School Educators, National Education Association, and Board of Directors for Central Boston Elders Services.
