Schnucks' truck driver Steve Burns said the new system allows him to call ahead and tell a store manager, "I'm 10 minutes away, prepare the dock." The shorter waiting times help him make at least one extra delivery a day, Burns said.
    ...
The new technology's also safer, Burns said, because there's no need for him to leave the truck and walk to the front of the store when a loading dock is closed.

Out of respect for Stevie Burns, the driver of the vehicle, please let me tell you the rest of the story. Steven Burns Jr. was one of the nicest, most positive people I have ever met. Because of a handicap, he spent most of his life relegated to being the guy on the sideline, always willing to help, keeping a smile on his face. He spent the better part of a year helping a friend convert a Harley Davidson to a trike. He believed that the owner of the bike was having the conversion done as a present to the owner's wife, in order that she may join in on the rides. But after completing the conversion, Stevie was surprised when the owner turned the keys over to him. He was so proud of that trike (one of the nicest Harleys in town) that his smile became contagious.

While at a child's birthday party, one of the children had a minor accident. The child was taken to the emergency room. Stevie followed on his trike to be with that child. It was his last trip. No one actually knows just what happened to flip the trike, but the accident took Stevie's life.

Please know that the trike provided Stevie with some of the best times of his life. He recently made a round trip on it to Austin for a rally.

I just wanted to let you know that Steven Burns Jr. was not part of Sgt.

I am a close family friend to Steve Burns Jr., the driver of the accident who you wrote about in Thursday's article. I feel that either you were misinformed or just didn't have all the facts, so I wanted to let you know.

The motorcycle that Steve was driving was a custom built Harley-Davidson Motorcycle built specially for him. It was, in fact, street legal and intended for street use, not off-road. The vehicle you described was an off-road 3-wheeler, the kind with the big tires, meant for off-roading and not street legal. The Harley-Davidson Trike that Steve was riding was street legal, registered as such and insured as a street worthy motorcycle. For a better idea, you can "Google" search for "Harley-Davidson Trike" and get an endless supply of Web sites.

The reason why I wrote was that Steve passed away Saturday.
