BURGESS JOINS AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD
FORT MYERS, Fla. (Oct. 15, 2007) - Joseph H. Burgess has been appointed to the Lee County Port Authority Airports Special Management Committee by Lee County Port Commissioner Frank Mann.

Burgess was born and spent his childhood in Fort Myers.He received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Florida and went on to work for North American Aviation in Los Angeles, Calif., and Hughes Aircraft Company.He also worked for Pan American Airways at the U.S. Air Force Guided Missile Range in Cocoa Beach, Fla. before returning to Fort Myers in 1964.In 1970, he established Burgess Engineer, Inc., an engineering consulting firm based out of Fort Myers, and is still active in the company today.
Burgess was elected to the Lee Memorial Hospital board of directors in 1975, where he served two four-year terms.He is a member and served as president of the Fort Myers Rotary Club in 1975-76.Burgess was elected to the Lee County Mosquito Control Board of Commissioners in 1993 and is currently serving a fourth four-year term.He is also active on the Boy Scouts Southwest Florida Council.
Burgess currently resides in Fort Myers, Fla.
