Clerk Joseph Burgess was appointed Clerk of Washington Township in April of 2000 after serving several years as a Trustee.Joe was elected to Clerk in 2001 and again in 2005.Joe and his wife Karen have lived in Washington Township for over 25 years and have two children, Alyssa and Alex.

"There is no turning back," explained Clerk Joe Burgess at the annual town meeting.

If approved, the employees will be given an option to purchase additional time based on five years or 20 percent of the time they have worked at their jobs, whichever is less.

According to Township Clerk Joseph Burgess, an employee must work 1,000 hours a year to participate in the retirement plan.

The new facility now includes township offices for Supervisor Nelson Collins, Clerk Joseph Burgess and Assessor Carol Ann Blume.
