John T. Burgess, MD is Board Certified in both Dermatology and Internal Medicine.Dr. Burgess obtained a Bachelor's Degree in biology, cum laude, at Harvard University.He went to medical school at the University of Virginia, where he graduated in the top third of his class.He completed his internal medicine residency at University of Tennessee's Baptist Memorial Hospital.He served in the United States Army from 1988 to 1998, during which time he completed his dermatology residency at Brooke Army Medical Center.His accomplishments throughout his career, both in internal medicine and dermatology, were marked by the many honors bestowed upon him, including an Army commendation medal.Dr. Burgess has spent a great deal of his medical career as a mentor and teacher to other physicians.He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Medical Association and is a member of the advisory board of the Christian Medical Foundation International.Church, fishing, tennis, and violin are among his favorite interests.
