    John Burgess

John was born in Cirencester and attended the local Grammar School. He has over 25 years local government experience, both as an employee and as a Councillor. John has been the Beeches and Kingshill Ward member for 8 years and for the last 3 years he has been a Cabinet member of Cotswold District Council.

John is a founder member of Cirencester Athletics Club and is a well known athletics coach. He is a former Chairman of the Governors of Cirencester County Infants School. He put forward the original proposals for CCTV in Cirencester and saved residents of the Beeches thousands of pounds by researching and showing that sewer repairs in parts of North Home Road were a local authority responsibility. He also proposed the study which led to the new Cirencester Leisure Centre.

John Burgess, Cotswold District Council Cabinet Member for Cirencester, said - This is great news. Local people and businesses have been hoping for this work to be completed for some time. I have lobbied for the work to be supported from the County Council capital budget in the apparent absence of any action from our Liberal Democrat County Councillors over the past three years.
