Ken Bunter, co-owner of Advanced Blind & Shade in Soquel, said honeycomb shades are a hot item with his customers.

Honeycomb shades provide excellent insulation and come in a multitude of colors and patterns to match the décor of homes, said Bunter. They provide optimal insulation and can be opened and closed horizontally or vertically.

Shades come in light-filtering and room-darkening models.Honeycomb shades are designed in varying degrees of cells, one, two or three and increase in price and insulation accordingly.

The shades can be designed to fit small windows at a cost of about $49 as well as very large windows at prices near $350, said Bunter.
