According to Sarah Bunten, co-owner of Nanny and Billy's Vegetative Management, the goats will come by early April at the latest.She didn't know the specific date because she was having trouble finding a truck large enough to haul the 200 goats down to San Pedro from Oregon.

Bunten said the contract and other mandatory forms, including a "slavery disclosure notice," didn't arrive until March 17.

Bunten said the goats will be in San Pedro within two weeks and a month, depending on the plant growth.

Still, the project went well, said Sarah Bunten, owner of Nanny & Billy's.

"It worked out really good," she said.

"All of the people have been great," Bunten said.

"We've seen how positive goats have been with kids with disabilities," said Sarah Bunten, co-owner of the herding and grazing business."I think for urban kids, it would be great."

The company has written a proposal for the farm, but it would be up to local residents and community leaders, Bunten said, to design it in a way that works best for the community.

"I think if we all got together, there are ways to make it happen," Bunten said."We need to make people understand it's theirs, not ours."Plans would be made with "lots of meetings and coffee," she said.

Hugh and Sarah Bunten of Nanny & Billy's of Oregon brought in 500 head of goats to get started on the tamarisk project.
