Construction crews who will begin working on the project's treatment plant and pipeline will become members of the Laborer's International Union of North America, Local 1686, later this summer when construction begins, said Kevin Buckles, the Fort Peck Tribes' Tribal Employment Rights Office (TERO) Director.

Steven Gray Hawk, and Poplar Mayor Kevin Buckles.

Buckles, who is a Fort Peck tribal member was the first Native American to be elected a few years ago, and has since resigned his position.Chairing her first meeting on Wednesday, June 8 as the new mayor, she said she is excited and anxious to assume the duties and has already filed for the mayor¹s position which is up in December of this year.
