    ARTIST STATEMENT

    Andy Buck is a third generation studio furniture maker and graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (MFA 1993).His work brings together traditional craftsmanship with sculpted forms and richly painted surfaces.Formerly an assistant professor at the Oregon College of Art & Craft, Andy is currently an assistant professor teaching woodworking and furniture design at The School for American Crafts at the Rochester Institute of Technology.He has been a guest lecturer at virtually every major woodworking program in the country and is a New Jersey Council for the Arts fellowship recipient.Andy has exhibited both furniture and sculpture in galleries all over the country and has been published in a number of books and magazines here and abroad.His work is represented by Pritam & Eames in East Hampton, NY, John Elder Gallery in New York City, and Wexler Gallery in Philadelphia, and Function + Art in Chicago.

    Andy Buck received his MFA from Rhode Island School of Design, and has been active in the studio furniture field for 16 years.He is currently Assistant Professor in the Wood program at The School for American Crafts, RIT, in Rochester, NY.He has been a visiting lecturer at virtually every major woodworking program in the country.

    His work brings together traditional craftsmanship with sculpted forms and richly painted surfaces.His furniture is painted with layers of milk paint, carved and sanded.
