  Dr. Larry Bryars is a 1972 graduate of Baldwin County High School here in Alabama.After graduation he attended the University of South Alabama and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1976.Upon graduation he attended Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky where he was awarded his Masters of Divinity degree.Dr. Bryars was awarded his Doctorate of Ministry degree in 1986 from The Theological School of Drew University in 1986.
  
  Since graduating from Asbury, he has been assigned to Bay Minette First.
  
  United Methodist Church as an Associate Pastor (1979-1982), Church Street United Methodist Church as an Associate Pastor (1982-1983), Epworth United Methodist Church in Phenix City, Alabama (1983-1997), until he accepted his position as the Senior Pastor at Aldersgate in 1997.
  
  Dr. Bryars has been very involved in the operations of the Montgomery District as well as the Alabama-West Florida Conference.He is on the District Committee on Ministry, Church Buildings and Locations, as well as the District Missions Committee.Dr. Bryars is also on the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, the Chair of the Area of Local Pastors, the Emory COS Advisory Committee, and the Site Coordinator of the Huningdon COS.He has been the Emory University teaching parish instructor since 1986.
  
  Dr. Bryars is married to his lovely wife Vicki, a school teacher, and has 3 sons : Paul, Nick, and John.

  Larry Bryars (Larry@shalimar-umc.org) SENIOR PASTOR
  
  Larry and Vicki (Elementary School Teacher) have been married for over twenty six years. They have three sons, Paul, Nicholas, and John.
  
  Larry is a native of Stockton, AL. He received his BS degree from the University of South Alabama, Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary, and Doctorate of Ministry from The Theological School of Drew University. He has served as an associate pastor in Bay Minette First and Church Street in Selma. As a senior pastor, he spent fourteen years in the Epworth UMC in Phenix City and four years in the Aldersgate UMC in Montgomery. Prior to coming to Shalimar UMC, Larry served three years as the District Superintendent of the Montgomery-Prattville District.
  
  Larry has served on many boards and agencies of the Alabama West Florida Conference. Presently, he serves as chair of the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry and is a trustee of Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL. He has been an instructor in the Course of Study for Local Pastors, and was the co-founder of the Huntingdon- Birmingham Southern Course of Study School. He is also past adjunct staff of Candler School of Theology in the Teaching Parish program.
  
  Larry has had the honor of representing the Alabama-West Florida Conference as a member of the delegation to the past four General and Jurisdictional Conferences. He serves as a member of the "Rules and Order" committee for the Southeast Jurisdictional Conference.
