Lobbyist Brunswick said Monday that Oberle's behavior constitutes "an appearance of impropriety that needs to be addressed."
He said his group's opposition to casinos in Wilmington, which proponents have touted as a potential economic boon to the city, is based on social costs such as possible increases in crime."It's a bet on economic expansion, which is as risky as a bet on a slot machine," Brunswick said.
For Oberle to be an effective advocate in that battle, one whose motives are above question, Brunswick said, "It seems the logical step is to step down."
