   Hannelore A. Brucker, MD, an allergist physician with Southdale Allergy Clinic in Minneapolis, joins Riverwood Healthcare Center's Specialty Clinic staff in July.
   
   Dr. Brucker's practice specializes in diagnosing and treating people with hayfever, asthma and other allergies, which encompass a wide range of symptoms and affect people differently. The severity of allergic reactions can depend on the allergen type, the level of exposure and each individual's immune response.
   
   "We believe it is important to listen to patients since the observations they have about their allergies helps us evaluate and treat them," said Dr. Brucker. "During the first visit to the office, we will thoroughly discuss a patient's allergies because the more we know about them, the better the treatment results will be. In between visits, patients are welcome to call me with questions about their allergies or treatment."
   
   A practicing allergist since 1983, Dr. Brucker is board certified in internal medicine and completed medical school at the University of Tuebingen in West Germany. She went on to obtain training in internal medicine in Dearborn, Michigan, and at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. Her specialty area of interest is how pollen allergy can correlate with food allergy. She also enjoys the challenge of evaluating allergic-type rashes. Dr. Brucker is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, and a scientific fellow of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
   
   "With more than 20 years of experience in her field, Dr. Brucker makes a terrific addition to our Specialty Clinic staff," said Carolyn Hagen, Riverwood clinic patient/provider services manager.

   Dr. Brucker will see patients at Riverwood's Specialty Clinic in Aitkin on the third Wednesday of the month, beginning July 19. In addition to Dr. Brucker, Riverwood pulmonologist Dr. Wayne Elmer also provides care and treatment for asthma.

   The asthma screening includes meeting with an allergist physician on staff at Riverwood's Specialty Clinic, Dr. Hannelore Brucker, to discuss signs and symptoms.A respiratory therapist will perform a lung function test, and Dr. Brucker will review screening results with those who are screened.
