Betty was a radar operator with the anti-aircraft division of the British's LATS. They met while both were stationed near Bristol, England. Betty attended Gordon College, Aberdeen University before enlisting in the LATS in December of 1941. She was on the train en route to Inverness to report for training when she heard that Pearl Harbor had been bombed. Betty was employed at Motorola in Quincy, Il. and by SAGA food service at Quincy College. She was also a dietary supervisor at nursing homes in Hamilton, Il. and Keokuk, Iowa. She retired in 2004 as dietary supervisor at Pittsfield Healthcare Center. Betty was a member of the Pittsfield United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed her years of friendship with the "British War Brides" and the "Red Hat Ladies".
