Topic: In his presentation, Chip will share his thinking about frogs.Not the use of computer simulations for frog dissections in biology class, although there is ultimately a connection of that to what he does have to share.He will, in fact, talk about the tail-less amphibians that croak at night, eat insects, and make incredible leaps.

Chip Bruce is a professor in library & information Science, curriculum & instruction, bioengineering, the Center for Writing Studies, and the Center for East Asian & Pacific Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.He's been a member of the UIUC faculty since 1990.Before moving to Illinois, he taught computer science at Rutgers (1971-74) and was a principal scientist at Bolt Beranek and Newman (1974-90).He received a BA in biology from Rice University in 1968 and a Ph.D. in computer sciences from The University of Texas at Austin in 1971.His computer science background defines his interest in learning technologies, leading him into exploration of questions regarding the nature of knowledge, community, democratic participation, technology, and literacy.
