Charlie Bruce, the threatened and endangered species coordinator for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, said the state is gathering the information needed to remove bald eagles from its listings.
A final decision, however, will have to come from the federal government. Bruce said the major obstacle is making sure bald eagles still receive the protection they need once their status changes.
