BUCHANAN, CHARLES L., III (CHARLIE, GRANDADDY) - age 70 passed away Thursday October 7, 2004 at St Mary's Medical Center from complications of heart disease. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee on March 9, 1934. He graduated from Father Ryan High School in Nashville and attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Charlie enjoyed a long career as Civil Engineering Consultant with A.E. Bost Engineering and Russell & Axxon. He then started his own company, Buchanan & Associates as an Environmental Consultant. He was currently working part-time at Butler, Vines & Babb Law Firm. Charlie was a member of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Fountain City. Charlie was an avid supporter of UT Athletics and an original member of the UT Orange Tie Club. He enjoyed a variety of activities including fishing, hunting, boating on Norris Lake and gardening. In his later years, Charlie was a Harley Davidson motorcycle rider ("Harley Charlie" loved to wear his leather). He enjoyed rides with wife Crystel, and was a member of the East Tennessee, Knoxville Chapter, H.O.G. Every minute was precious to Charlie as he was up at the crack of dawn and late to bed. He embraced life, his family and friends with his big crooked smile. Charlie was the peacemaker of his blended family. As a cancer survivor, he inspired everyone with his zest for life. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. -
