  High school Principal John Brucato confirmed yesterday three students have been treated after testing positive for staph, while a teacher is now suspected of carrying the contagious skin infection.

  A sophomore on the high school swim team has been treated after testing positive for staph in early September, Brucato said.
  
  Staph is characterized by skin lesions and symptoms such as redness, warmth, swelling, pus, boils and blisters, according to a fact sheet he provided.

  On Monday, Brucato sent home a teacher who had a suspicious skin condition.
  
  "There was a question as to whether or not the teacher had ... what might look like an infection, a boil.Now, you don't take any chances," Brucato said.
  
  "You don't want to create hysteria but at the same time ...I think it's something you have to be very cautious about," he said."We have taken immediate action.We're being as proactive as possible."
  
  The school's locker rooms have been power-washed and fact sheets about the diseases have been sent home to families.
