   Jan Brucato became President/CEO of the YMCA of Central Kentucky in January of 2001.During her tenure, YMCA of Central Kentucky membership has more than quadrupled.Prior to her current position, Jan served 6 years as Vice President of Operations for the YMCA of Central Kentucky and has an additional 14 years of program and management experience with YMCAs in northern Kentucky, Nashville, Tennessee, and Maysville, Kentucky.
   
   Formerly, Jan was a faculty level trainer for a variety of YMCA of the USA health and fitness courses and a contributing writer to the YMCA's Exercise Instructor Certification Training manual and the YMCA Prenatal Exercise Program.Throughout her tenure, she has served on a variety of national YMCA committees and task forces and is currently a member of the Association of YMCA Professionals National Board of Directors and the National YMCA Region II Compliance and Membership Standards Committee.
   
   Jan currently serves on several local boards and committees including the Downtown Lexington orporation Board of Directors, the Bluegrass Miracle League, Inc.Board of Directors, the United Way Agency Advisory Council, the United Way Marketing Committee, the Tweens Nutrition and Fitness Coalition, and the FCPS 20/20 Vision Health and Well-being Committee.Jan recently received the Lexington-Fayette County (KY) Health Department's 2005 Public Health Hero Award, selected annually by the Board of Health.
   
   Jan is a 1978 graduate of Western Kentucky University and resides in Lexington with her husband John and daughter Kate.

   BRUCATO TO ASSUME DUTIES AT YMCA OF THE USA
   
   After nearly 14 years, the last seven as President/CEO, Jan Brucato has resigned from the YMCA of Central Kentucky.She has accepted the position of Mid-Majors YMCA Resource Director with YMCA of the USA.
   
   Brucato, whose resignation was effective June 6, saw the YMCA of Central Kentucky grow immensely since she accepted the position of Vice President of Operations in August 1994.She was the YMCA's representative for $16 million in capital facility projects that resulted in the construction of the Beaumont Centre and North Lexington YMCA facilities and partial renovation of the High Street YMCA.She oversaw the association as it grew to its current size, serving 25,000 members and 23,000 program participants, recording 60 percent revenue growth and 43 percent membership growth from 2001 to 2007.The YMCA of Central Kentucky now boasts a $12.6 million operating budget and employs 73 full-time and 375 part-time staff.
   
   In her new position with YMCA of the USA, Brucato will be the Resource Director for 30 YMCAs across the United States, with annual operation budgets ranging from $14 million to $18 million.She will provide direct resources in strategic planning, board development and day-to-day operations.She is part of a three-member YUSA team who will provide resource services to the 90 largest YMCAs in the United States.
   
   "This is a great opportunity for Jan and we are happy for her because of that but we will miss the enthusiasm, dedication, vision and energy that she brought to her position as leader of the YMCA of Central Kentucky," said Fran Taylor, Executive Director of the Keeneland Foundation and chair of the YMCA of Central Kentucky's Metro Board of Directors.

   Brucato is affiliated as a volunteer with several national YMCA groups including the Association of YMCA Professionals National Board of Directors and the YUSA Region II Committee on Membership Standards.She also is an active board member for both the Downtown Lexington Corporation and the Toyota Bluegrass Miracle League and is a member of the Lexington Rotary Club.
