LNG has been an important and reliable marginal gas supply for the Northeast for many years. The recent and rapid growth in gas demand arising from new gas-fueled electrical generating plants in the region places additional stress on supply, and makes resources such as LNG even more important in satisfying demand growth, at least for the intermediate term.
