   Broyhill said he is a strong consumer advocate and believes customers should have the right to acquire furniture at cheaper prices.Therefore, he supports free trade, but he said more needs to be done to help unemployed workers left behind at home.
   
   He said community colleges in his area train former industry workers for non-existent computer jobs."There aren't many jobs like that in the rural area (of North Carolina)," Broyhill said.
   
   Instead of the training, he favors recruitment and relocation of distribution plants to the state.He would also like to help secure venture capital and equity for firms, so they may grow and produce jobs.
   
   Broyhill is managing director of the Broyhill Group, an investment banking company.He operated Edgar B Furniture in Clemmons, NC, for many years until it closed, in part due to poor economic times.
   
   The candidate's father is James T. Broyhill, who was a public servant for 30 years.
