    WLJ partner Bettina Brownstein has been named the 2006 recipient of the Outstanding Lawyer-Humanitarian Award by the Arkansas Bar Association and Arkansas Bar Foundation.The award was presented at the Foundation's Fellows Dinner on June 7, 2006, held in conjunction with the Association's Annual Meeting in Hot Springs.The Outstanding Lawyer-Humanitarian Award is a special award given periodically when deemed appropriate "to recognize outstanding humanitarian service" by a lawyer.

    Ms. Brownstein recently returned from a seven-month residency in the Republic of Georgia, where she participated in the American Bar Association's Central European and Eurasian Law Initiative to aid the Republic of Georgia in reforming its post-communist democratic legal system.She previously received the 2001 Distinguished Service Award from the American Civil Liberties Union and has previously served as President of Planned Parenthood of Greater Arkansas and of Arkansas Coalition for Choice.For over ten years she has served as General Counsel of Planned Parenthood of Eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas and as a cooperating attorney with the ACLU of Arkansas and the Center for Reproductive Law and Policy.

    Ms. Brownstein is a member of the firm's Labor and Employment Team.
