Lisa Brownstead
A natural night owl.. Lisa has made the adjustment to waking up early to bring you the very latest in local news on 13News this morning. She also anchors 13News at noon. Lisa joined WOWK-TV in September of 1998 as the Weekend anchor and was quickly promoted to mornings. She is also our medical reporter and produces our daily Healthwatch segment.
A native Californian, Lisa now calls this area home after marrying a local boy. Actively involved in the community, she's proud to sit on the Public Relations board of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Tri-State and enthusiastically helps the American Diabetes Association raise money in its annual Kiss A Pig Campaign. In fact she raised the most money in 2001 and had the 'honor' of kissing a pig.
Before moving across the country Lisa worked as a news anchor at KNVN in Chico, California and at a cable station in Bishop, California.
Lisa is a graduate of San Jose State University after spending some time at UCLA. Although a bit rusty now, Lisa speaks near- fluent Spanish. She learned the language while she was a high school exchange student in Chile. Lisa grew up in Palo Alto, CA and tries to return home as much as possible.
Lisa is a trustee at a local congregational church and loves participating in career days at local schools and promoting the value of reading. Lisa and her husband, Chris, reside in Lawrence County, Ohio with his two young children and their three cats. You can email Lisa at mailto:brownstead@wowktv.com
