   Tim Brownlee believes in a philosophy of recruiting talented, well-rounded players from across the state of Illinois and the Midwest to Illinois State.Serving as the primary recruiting coordinator, he has been instrumental in bringing in more than 70 new players over the last five seasons, and has already signed three recruits for 2008-09.In addition, Brownlee is responsible for the development of the Redbird hitters and infielders.
   
   Brownlee's 2007-08 recruiting class contains three all-state selections from three different states in Ronnie Calvird (Farmington, Mo.), Corey Maines (Houston) and Kevin Tokarski (Downers Grove, Ill.). All three should make an immediate impact for the Redbirds and could all be in the lineup on opening day, showing Brownlee's ability to bring in top-notch talent from around the Midwest.    During his 14 years as an assistant coach, Brownlee has coached and recruited more than 32 players who have gone on to play professional baseball.

   Prior to coming to Illinois State, Brownlee served as an assistant for nine years at Evansville, his alma mater.During his tenure, the Aces received an at-large bid to the 2000 NCAA Tournament, where the team faced Florida State.
   
   The former starting second baseman for the Purple Aces, Brownlee completed his collegiate eligibility in 1993 after helping the team to a 43-18 record, which ranked second in the school's history for wins in a season.During his four-year playing career at Evansville, the Aces compiled a 142-89-1 record, and Brownlee was named an honorary captain his senior season.He still ranks 11th all-time in games played (215) and 14th in runs scored (130) at Evansville.
   
   The 37-year-old Brownlee received his degree in physical education in 1994.He and his wife, Shana, reside in Normal, Ill., with their two daughters, Olivia (7) and Ella (3).

   ISU assistant baseball coach Tim Brownlee is excited about what the three early signees will bring to the program, feeling that the coaches addressed the areas that they will need to fill after this season.
