Inlet Harbor Inc. plans to renovate the marina, restaurant complex, bait and tackle shop, marine store, gift shop, fuel center and parking lots along the lines of a fishing village theme, said John Brownlee, vice president and general manager of the Inlet Harbor Inc., investors. It's a beautiful, unique piece of property we want to restore to the original grandeur of Ponce Inlet," Brownlee said. "Long term it has real potential."
The new owners also plan to bring back the site's original name, Inlet Harbor Marina. The property fronts on the Halifax River. Renovations are scheduled to be finished by January 1997. Cost estimates were unavailable.

Previous owners had "neglected" the property, using it mostly as a drydock marina, Brownlee said. The absentee owners had hired a management company to operate the site, he said.
The marina now includes 235 dry storage spots and 54 wet boat slips, Brownlee said. Renovations will add an as yet undermined number of slips and more storage facilities. "We have room for growth," Brownlee said. He anticipates that a mix of pleasure boats, charter rentals and deep-sea fishing boats will dock at the marina.
The restaurant complex will feature a nautical theme and casual seafood dining in moderate price ranges. Surrounding parking lots will be landscaped with tropical trees and plants. Outside, the restaurant will include tables, bars and decks that can seat up to 200.
Inlet Harbor was founded as a fishing camp in 1946 by its original owner, Redwood Wharton. Wharton sold the site in January 1984 for $1.15 million to RBHD Enterprises Ltd., which included Ormond Beach Riehlman as a principal.
