Tom Brownell, senior vice president of retail and land development for Dunn Commercial of Arlington, said he has just begun looking for buyers and tenants. He said he hopes to sign four or five sit-down restaurants to operate on the property.

"We are marketing the property to upper-end and fine-dining restaurants and believe the others we are talking to would certainly fit in well and everyone would benefit from the synergy," Brownell said.

He said several of the restaurants will be new to north Arlington. He said he is talking to Chinese, Italian and Mexican restaurants.

"I think I can say those on the real active list aren't in Arlington, period," Brownell said.

Tom Brownell, with 25 years in the business, has begun by soloing, but plans to add a few teammates toward the end of this year for namesake firm, Brownell Commercial. "I just decided to start the New Year off independent and financially taking advantage of my broker's license," he tells GlobeSt.com. A final decision about the office's location is pending, but he says he's eyeing three spots in North Arlington.

Brownell, a retail and land broker, says he has some significant deals in the hopper that are close to being finalized. His going-forward plan is to focus on North Arlington, but, as before, he will work deals all over the metroplex. He joined Dunn Commercial in April 2005 after a long-time stint as vice president for Dallas-based Christon Co. "It will be nine to 12 months before I decide to expand," he says, "and if I do, it will be in Dallas."

Tom Brownell, vice president of retail and land development for Arlington-based Dunn Commercial L.P., said although a deal hasn't been sealed for IKEA, there are very few options in the area that can accommodate the store's huge footprint.

"I've been told by the principals at the Highlands that IKEA's signing of a contract is a couple of months away, but they feel it's inevitable," Brownell said.
