   Another son, Sam Brownell, has devoted his life to education in the field of school administration. He was for many years Professor of School Administration at Yale University. In 1953, he resigned his position at Yale to be come United States Comissioner of Education where he served until 1956. He accepted the position of Superintendent of the Detriot, Michigan Public Schools.
