   Bob Brownell joined MedVenture Associates in March 2006. Bob brings a broad range of business development, legal and management experience to MedVenture. With 18 years of experience counseling life sciences companies from formation to maturity, Bob broadens MedVenture's services to portfolio companies and aids in the management of the firm and its infrastructure.
   
   Prior to joining MedVenture, Bob was Vice President and General Counsel of TheraSense, Inc., where he was a key member of the company's management team. He joined TheraSense while it was still a private company after serving as its outside counsel since its initial incorporation. Bob left TheraSense following its acquisition and integration with Abbott Laboratories.
   
   For the twelve years prior to TheraSense, Bob was a corporate and securities attorney with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati where his practice focused on the representation of technology companies from their earliest stages, including many MedVenture portfolio companies such as ArthroCare, PercuSurge and TheraSense.

   MedVenture Associates, a venture capital firm in Emeryville, has hired former TheraSense Inc. executive Robert Brownell as a partner in the firm.
   
   Brownwell was vice president and general counsel at TheraSense, one of MedVenture Associates' investments, before Abbott Laboratories (NYSE: ABT) purchased it in 2004 He also was a corporate and securities attorney with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he specialized in representing early-stage technology companies.
