    Wendy W. Brown, MD, MPH, is Director of Clinical Nephrology at the St. Louis VA Medical Center and Professor of Internal Medicine at St. Louis University School of Medicine.     Wendy Weinstock Brown, MD was awarded the Martin Wagner Memorial Award at NKF's 49th Annual Meeting held here. An annual tradition, the award recognizes and celebrates the spirit and strength of volunteerism.

    Dr. Brown's involvement with the National Kidney Foundation began in 1980 at the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) Metro East/Eastern Missouri where she served as president. She also chaired the Metro East/Eastern Missouri Affiliate's Scientific Advisory Board, Bylaws and Policies Committee and Public Education Committee and was a member of its Board of Directors. Nationally, Dr. Brown served on more than 26 different NKF committees, including the Patient Services Committee, Affiliate Relations Committee, and Early Intervention and Prevention Task Force. In 1995 she was elected chairman of the Foundation, making her the first woman in NKF's history to serve in that position.

    A graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and the Medical College of Pennsylvania, Dr. Brown is director of clinical nephrology at the St. Louis Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and professor of internal medicine at the St. Louis University School of Medicine.

    The National Kidney Foundation is dedicated to preventing kidney and urinary tract diseases, improving the health and well being of individuals and families affected by these diseases and increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation.
