  Gordon Brown, Q.C. is the former head of the energy and natural resources department of which he is still an active member and a core member of the firm's Environmental Practice Group.
  
  With over 35 years of experience, Gordon has played a significant role in the structuring of major transactions in the natural resource and energy field.
  
  Gordon's practice has included complex joint ventures for the exploration and development of conventional and heavy oil, tarsands, offshore oil and gas ventures, coal and uranium.As part of his practice, Gordon is involved in many related matters ranging from international trade and finance to negotiating with government officials in regulating foreign investment to the preparation of licensing agreements in advanced technology for the production of oil.
  
  In addition to his practice, Gordon was a member of the Alberta round table on the environment and the economy, the purpose of which was to advise the Alberta Government on strategy for integration of environmental and economic decision-making and on methods of achieving sustainable development.
  
  A director of a number of corporations in the energy field, Gordon is also a former director of the Canadian Institute of Resources Law and the Calgary Philharmonic Society.
  
  Gordon is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Canadian Bar Association.
