    Shelley Brown - Vice President of Programming

    A native of Colorado, Shelley Brown attended Connecticut College where she received a Bachelor's degree in English and Economics.In 1988, she began working at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as the Theater Press Coordinator.While promoting the Kennedy Center's theatrical events, she found time to attend night school at the George Washington University, and received her Masters in Business Administration in 1992.

    In 1993, she was promoted to the Kennedy Center programming office where she held the position of Festival Manager.Programming credits include the booking and management of major international programs including the 1994 Australian Festival, and annual Japanese events, as well as diverse local performances.Ms. Brown devised the initial program concepts for the nightly free Millennium Stage Series, which she launched and booked.She was responsible for the programming and management of the Open House Arts Festival, the Kennedy Center's largest outreach project, and the Holiday Celebration.

    She joined Strathmore in 1998, first as the Rental Coordinator and then was promoted to Vice President of Marketing and Public Affairs.At Strathmore, she implemented a marketing strategy and systems for the regional arts center.She created a corporate brand and identity program and launched a new web site.She was promoted to Vice President of Programming in September 2003.

    Ms. Brown recently produced the Washington Area Music Timeline Concert Series, a series of 64 concerts that chronologically mark important figures in the area's musical history at Strathmore.This series, lauded as "admirable and ambitious" (The Washington Post) has garnered significant attention in the Washington D.C. area and culminated with the opening of the new 1,976-seat Music Center at Strathmore on February 5, 2005.

    Ms. Brown is a founding board member of Thrive, the young member's group of the National Kidney Foundation.She is a past board member of the National Cherry Blossom Festival and the Montgomery County Convention and Visitors Bureau.She is an active board member of the Washington Area Music Association.

    Shelley Brown and her husband, Michael Rosenberg, are residents of Bethesda, Maryland where their two sons, Nicholas, 12 and Jeffrey, 10 attend Wood Acres public school.
