"It's his job to lose," said Thomasville coach Allen Brown.
...
"We've played all these schools before," Brown said.
...
"Winning begets winning and losing begets losing," Brown said.
"There's some carryover value.
Each team is a little different.
They've got to dig out for themselves and create their own team."
One thing that will remain the same is Brown's philosophy.
The Bulldogs will run first and throw as an aside.
Brown likes to establish a tailback and give him the ball.
"Basically, we'll run lead plays with the fullback blocking," Brown said.
...
The Bulldogs have about 75 players out for football, though Brown said he hasn't really counted them.
"We're a little bit slow numbers-wise on the JV side," Brown said.
"The varsity is about normal."
And after a week of practice, the prognosis is good, though Brown always errs on the side of caution.
"It's hard to build a team," Brown said.
