David Brotman Meet our president, David Brotman. David has been a member of TBO/BT for twenty-two years and a member of its Board of Trustees for eighteen years. He has served on the Board, the Executive Board and Finance Committee of the Jewish Federation of Central New Jersey and is also an ardent supporter of Israel, where he has visited his family and friends many times.
David is a firm believer that those who can, have a responsibility to do: in religious services, fundraising as well as in leadership. To him, membership in a synagogue is like membership in a cooperative, each person needs to do their share in order for the organization to thrive. It's not OK to find fault in the way leadership runs the show without getting involved to help improve the shul yourself. He appreciates both guidance from previous leaders and can-do optimism from current leaders.
In running the shul and satisfying those with different needs, he tries to keep in mind the words of the Prayer for the Congregation, ",those unite to establish synagogues for prayer, those that enter them to pray, those who give funds for heat and light, and wine for Kiddush and Havdalah, bread to the wayfarer and charity to the poor, and all who devotedly involve themselves with the needs of this community and the Land of Israel,". It takes all of us.
David and his wife Cindy reside in Highland Park and are the proud parents of five children, Michelle, Jennifer, Joey, Daniel and Felicia, all of whom attended the Solomon Schechter Day School of Essex and Union in Elementary and/or Middle School.
