I'm told that Dr. Jeff Broome is the only historian who actually located the homestead, obtained land owner permission, and did a professional archeological dig, with excellent results.By contrast, I hear that both the tribes and the National Park Service have renigged on their agreements to validate the archeological efforts the Bowen's have done on their discovery of Black Kettle's village. And ARCHEOLOGY magazine says they quoted from Senator Campbell's book "An American Warrior" that when he becomes governor he plans to burn the town of Chivington to the ground.
