"This city is the most cooperative city and the most can-do city that I have worked with in my history of real estate business," said Dick Brooks, vice president of Ryan Companies USA Inc., the developer of the Sunnybrook Plaza commercial development project."I really thank the city for the cooperation and professionalism that everyone showed on this project."
Brooks offered his comments during recent formal groundbreaking ceremonies at the site.Sunnybrook Plaza, on the southeast intersection of Sunnybrook Drive and U.S. Highway 20, will be anchored by a 143,000-square-foot Greatlands Target and a 137,000-square-foot Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse.
Ryan Companies of Minneapolis has been working with the city for two years to bring the development to fruition.
"Over those two years, everyone in the city can attest to the amount of effort it took to get to this point today. No job of this size is done without the cooperation of many people," Brooks said."I think the city will be proud of what we will bring to this development."
Brooks' comments were backdropped by dirt-movers and contractors working to install infrastructure and move massive mounts of dirt to level out the Sunnybrook valley surrounded by rolling hills.Contractors began site work in March.
The city will reimburse Ryan Companies up to $4.4 million for the construction of approximately $5 million in infrastructure improvements.
