Adriana Brook, Arts & Science, and Christian van der Pol, Electrical & Biomedical Engineering, will receive the Chancellor's Gold Medal, Dr. Todd Hoare '06 will receive the Governor General's Academic Medal, and Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed '78 and Dr. Norman Glendenning '55 will receive the 2006 Distinguished Alumni Award.

Brook is enrolled in the fifth year of the Arts & Science program, combining with Classics and minoring in French.Her academic awards include the Dr. Harry Lyman Hooker Scholarship, Muriel E. Skelton Scholarship, Marnie Spear Scholarship, Varey Scholarship and the Provincial Millennium Laureate Award.

She is a four-year member of the Dean's Honour List and has also received an Undergraduate Student Research Award and earned the Mark Keyes Leadership Certification.

Brook is the concert co-ordinator for the McMaster University Choir and the vocal director for the McMaster Musical Theatre's production of Hair.Her commitments to the McMaster community include sitting on the Senate Board for Student Appeals, serving on the executive of the McMaster Meal Exchange, and acting as a Welcome Week representative in both residence and Arts & Science.

Van der Pol, now in his fourth year, has excelled as a student in Electrical Engineering & Biomedical Engineering, earning a number of prestigious scholarschips, including the Bell Canada Scholarship, Atomic Energy of Canada Scholarship, the Dr. Harry Lyman Hooker Scholarship and the Herbert A. Ricker Scholarship.A fixture on the Dean's Honour List, he achieved a perfect grade point average in third year and joined the Provost's Honour Roll.
