    Prior to becoming a lawyer, Ben worked for multinational manufacturers/exporters of high technology computers and telecommunications equipment as a trade specialist. Ben has practiced law in Mobile since 1994.He has advised clients on commercial and corporate matters to include intellectual property and compliance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations. He is past chairman of the Alabama State Bar Section of International Law. Ben joined the Firm in 1996 and became a Partner in 2002. For the last several years, Ben has concentrated his practice on the defense of medical malpractice actions and suits against nursing homes and their employees. IADC Trial Academy Graduate Fluent in Spanish Ben is a contributing editor/author to the American Bar Association publication titled "Counseling Emerging Companies on Going International."

    Ben is the 2007 chairman of the FDLA Insurance Committee.

    Broadwater elected to term on Florida Defense Lawyer Association Board August 10, 2009

    At the FDLA annual meeting on Saturday, Ben Broadwater was re-elected to a second term on the Florida Defense Lawyer Association Board of Directors. Broadwater represents Florida defense lawyers in the western half of the first judicial district of Florida; roughly from Pensacola to Tallahassee. He has represented health care providers and insurers in that area for several years.

    In his past term, Broadwater served as the liaison to the Insurance Committee ensuring that members who practice in the area of insurance defense are kept abreast of developments in laws applicable to that practice. Broadwater has represented insurers in property loss claims and has spoken on that topic on numerous occasions.

    Broadwater named Director of Florida Defense Lawyers Association September 03, 2007

    On Saturday, lawyers Ben Broadwater, Chris Estes, Brian Murphy and Juan Ortega participated in the Springhill Medical Center Grandman Triathlon.

    While this was the first time for Brian, Chris and Juan have both completed this event in the past, and Ben is an avid triathlete and three-time finisher of Ironman Florida held each year in Panama City.

    Partner Ben Broadwater participated in the Gulf Coast Triathlon last weekend in Panama City, Florida. The Gulf Coast Triathlon is a half Ironman distance tri consisting of 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and a 13.1 mile run. This was Broadwater's third half Ironman. He has also completed the full Florida Ironman for the past two years. Broadwater has participated in numerous regional triathlons and participates in running and biking events organized to raise funds for various charitable organizations.

    Juan Ortega, Chris Estes and Will Grayson will join Broadwater on May 31st and compete in the Grandman Triathlon in Fairhope, AL.
