"I started signing him up for whatever kiddie racquet programs there were," Broadwater's mother, Roseanne Leto Broadwater, said.

So at the age of 3, he started playing competitive squash at the Bronxville Field Club.

"That was the time the racquet was bigger than me," Broadwater said.

One reason Broadwater loves squash is because he enjoys his coach, Gamal Amir, a former No. 1 squash player in Egypt.

"He is amazing," Broadwater said."He helps me out whenever I need it."

Broadwater is a junior squash player who has just finished a remarkable season. He won 10 tournaments, including two in the boys under-13 age category, this year, and until this past weekend, he was undefeated in the boys under-11 division.

This season's titles included the the Princeton University Juniors (Jan.13-15), BFC Silver (Jan. 20-22,) Club 800 Juniors boys under-13 (March 3-5), and St. Luke's tournament (March 31-April 2).

Last year, Broadwater won the Westchester Open, The Baird E. Haney, BFC Juniors boys under-13, Greenwich Junior Open, Westchester Junior Open and the Brown University Juniors.

"This year is the year to remember," he said."This is my last year in the under-11, I will be moving up to under-13, so I will be the underdog and have to work really hard."

This July, Broadwater will head to England to a squash camp to play tournaments.

In addition to squash, Broadwater also enjoys his time on the baseball field.Since he was 5, he has played for the Tuckahoe Youth Association.

He is also a goalie for the third- and fourth-grade lacrosse team.

In addition, Broadwater is also a gifted musician who sings with a semi-professional group, "The Young People's Chorus of New York."

Broadwater, who has been with the group for three years, sings at the junior level for children ranging from age 8 to high-schoolers.

"I love it, but once again I am going to move up to the intermediate group," he said.

He is also a talented pianist, having tested in the top 2 percent in his age group nationwide.

With so much going on, the young athlete and musician can go far.

"I plan to continue squash, baseball, and lacrosse, but I am not sure about the singing," Broadwater said.
