WILBUR E. BREWTON was born March 14, 1941 in Ocala, Florida.He was raised in Jacksonville, where he graduated from high school in 1959.In 1964, he received his undergraduate degree from Jacksonville University, and married Cheryl Kelley who received her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida.Wilbur graduated from Law School in 1968 and joined the Governor's staff in Tallahassee, as Assistant Legal Counsel to the Governor.Wilbur was later appointed Assistant Executive Director and General Counsel to the State Department of Business Regulation.He has been in private practice in Tallahassee since 1971 and is the managing partner of the Tallahassee office.
Wilbur's experience in the practice of law is varied, with an emphasis on administrative law, state and local government, corporate and contract law.He has appeared in numerous administrative cases involving business regulation and environmental law.He was appointed by the Insurance Commissioner to become General Counsel to the Florida Birth-Related Neurological Injury Compensation Association from 1989 to 1994 and was primarily responsible for implementing the Association on behalf of the state.Wilbur was also selected by the Governor to organize a quasi-governmental corporation, which privatized the State's correctional work programs.Wilbur has broad experience in all areas of state government, having represented clients before the Florida Legislature, the Governor and Cabinet, the Departments of Business and Professional Regulation, Natural Resources, Environmental Protection, Transportation, Insurance, Management Services, as well as extensive appearances before the District Courts of Appeal and the Florida Supreme Court.
He is currently a Managing Partner (Tallahassee) of Roetzel & Andress, L.P.A. and formerly with Brewton, Plante & Plante, P.A., and Gray, Harris & Robinson, P.A.
