Jenna was visitor number 20,000 at the Centre since its opening in September, 1999.Jenna, who is taking general studies, signed in to cameras flashing, applause, a celebration cake and the Hallelujah Chorus!It was fitting that Jenna was the student celebrated, as her journey to Kwantlen is a testament to courage and perseverance.It wasn't easy.
It's been a long journey for Jenna Breuer to become a student at Kwantlen.She came into the Learning Centre as its 20,000th visitor and talked freely about why she is here.She wants to be a role model for young women who are trying to bring themselves back into the mainstream, because that has been her journey.Jenna was a volunteer substance abuse counsellor in Vancouver's roughest areas.She's worked the soup line and driven the needle van and more."It is time to give back," she says. Jenna came into the Learning Centre for help in her course on the philosophy of religion and was matched with volunteer peer tutor Brent Vanhulsentop, who wants to be a teacher.
