Mr. Brettenny will present this topic along with a panel of experts from the field of Christian schooling in Africa as they share best practices and what works in the African context
Gavin Brettenny has a Zimbabwe heritage.He graduated with a Bachelor of Education, Honours, from the University of Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
Mr. Brettenny currently serves as the Headmaster of Harvest Christian School, Pre School to Grade 12.He is a member of Executive Leadership Team of Harvest Christian Church and the founding Director of Harvest Institute's School of Education and School of the Bible and Theology.Mr. Brettenny serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), Southern Africa.
Mr. Brettenny has traveled internationally on study and lecture tours across the sub-continent of Africa and the USA.He participated in a research tour to the United Kingdom and Israel for the University of Port Elizabeth in 1992 and 1993.He has conducted leadership training for school principals and training workshops for teachers in Malawi, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo from 2003 , 2006.In addition he has presented national workshops for the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) on Biblical worldview for Biblical Integration of school curriculum From 2004 , 2006 he has been engaged in extensive work at the provincial and national level in South Africa on behalf of independent schools.He argued in the South Africa Parliament for some of the current rights that have been granted to Independent Schools in the South Africa Schools Act.
He is a member of reference group for the new Grade 10 -12 Religious Studies curriculum for South African schools, serves as a writer for the new national South Africa Principal's qualification, and is chair person of the Eastern Cape Joint Liaison Committee on Independent schools for the Provincial Department of Education.
