Maureen Breslin returns to the American University Athletic Department as the Coordinator of Athletic Support Program for Student-Athletes. Besides being familiar with the university and its student athletes after working as an assistant field hockey coach for three years, Breslin brings a resume decorated with world-wide experience and success.
Breslin rejoined the staff of American University in the spring of 2007 after spending 18 months traveling from city to city with the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus. While working with "The Greatest Show on Earth," she ran a one room schoolhouse with 17 students, with education levels ranging from grades one through twelve.
While assisting the nationally ranked field hockey team from 2003-2006, Breslin worked primarily with the goalkeepers, bringing a wealth of knowledge to the field, helping lead American to their first Patriot League Championship and NCAA berth.

No stranger to the Patriot League on the field or in the classroom, Breslin graduated from Bucknell University in 1999 with a bachelor of science in education. During her tenure at BU, she was a four-year starter in goal for the Bison.
Following her collegiate career, Breslin participated in the Peace Corps in Leshan, Sichuan, China, where she taught English, American & British literature, as well as the American culture at Leshan Teachers College to future English teachers.
After two years volunteering with the Peace Corps, Breslin began her coaching career working with the varsity program at Penncrest High School in Media, Pa. In addition, Breslin taught Social Studies and worked with the freshman lacrosse team at the high school.
