Everyone, from professors inconvenienced by a lack of means to transport audio/visual equipment throughout the multilevel facility to physically disabled students altogether unable to move about the building, is already being accommodated, according to Steven Breslawski, chair of SUNY Brockport's business department and Hartwell Hall's building coordinator. "The elevator's brain has blown, and the company that installed it nine years ago is long gone," Breslawski said.

Dreyer said it was never a safety issue, but rather a reliability issue, while Breslawski has been in continual contact with the university's Office for Students with Disabilities.

Steve Breslawski, business department chair, said the AACSB is the white glove test for business schools. "The AACSB is the Hallmark of quality," Breslawski said. "It's pretty tough (to receive accreditation)." He said many recruiters and graduate schools will only work with accredited business schools and that accreditation would identify Brockport with a different league of schools. He said that in the past, Brockport was known as an athletics school or a party school, but its image is changing. "The college has adopted a strategy to compete on quality," Breslawski said.
...
Breslawski said that when he came to Brockport 10 years ago the business department had a plan to seek national accreditation and he volunteered to "quarterback" the accreditation process and planning. "But nothing gets done unless it's a team plan," Breslawski said. "In the last eight years, we've hired an incredible group of people (in the business department)," he said. "This has been much more planned and we have some outstanding people (on staff)." Breslawski said the business department has a strong curriculum and faculty. "Our faculty would measure up with any of them," he added.

Breslawski said the AACSB sets comprehensive standards by which it measures each school and then decides whether to approve, deny or defer accreditation. He said those standards involve curriculum, faculty and its credentials, instructional support, student success and faculty responsibilities. He said the AACSB is very mission-centered and each accredited school has to guarantee continuous improvement and maintain expertise.
