   Biography of Wayne Bresette
   
   A Brevard County native, Mr. Bresette is currently in his second year as Director of Instrumental Music at Viera High School. Prior to returning to Brevard Public Schools, Mr. Bresette was Assistant Professor of Education at The Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida - specifically, his responsibilities were to serve as band director at the Florida State University School - "Florida High" - a research and developmental school affiliated with FSU. Mr. Bresette's duties at the FSUS included teaching three classes of middle school band, high school band, drumline, and marching band to students in grades 6-12.
   
   Prior to teaching at FSUS, Mr. Bresette was a graduate assistant at The Florida State University College of Music in Tallahassee, FL. In addition to his music education studies, Mr. Bresette studied orchestral conducting with Dr. Alexander Jiménez, taught undergraduate bassoon methods courses to music majors, and instructed MIDI classes to undergraduate and graduate students.

   While at FSU, Mr. Bresette was also employed as Music Director and Conductor of mainstage musicals by The Florida State University School of Theatre. Mr. Bresette taught vocals, accompanied on piano, and conducted the pit orchestra for FSU's productions of OKLAHOMA and EVITA. He also served as music director and music coordinator for FSU's reading session of THE GREAT UNKNOWN featuring former Cosby Show actor Geoffrey Owens and former "Belle" on Broadway, Paige O'Hara. Mr. Bresette has worked extensively in music theatre outside of FSU, including designing electronic music tracks for Surfside Theatre's 1997 production of Camelot and Quincy Music Theatre's 2003 production of Oliver. He also music directed Oliver and Smokey Joes Café for QMT, simultaneously music directing and leading the band from the piano on the stage's revolve. In 2004, Mr. Bresette was principal pianist and assistant music director for Tallahassee Little Theatre's critically acclaimed production of Ragtime.
   
   From 2001 - 2003, Mr. Bresette served as Director of Orchestras and Associate Director of Bands at Satellite High School in Satellite Beach, FL. His responsibilities included drill and show design for the "Marching Scorps," music direction of the Satellite Symphonic Orchestra, and teaching responsibilities with the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Concert Orchestra, and Jazz Band. During his two years at SHS, Mr. Bresette worked closely with his colleagues at Satellite High and DeLaura Middle School. Together, they watched the SHS instrumental music program nearly double and the "Marching Scorps" increase from 103 students to over 160. Mr. Bresette's orchestras and bands have consistently received ‘Superior' ratings at FBA and FOA district and state events.
   
   While working at Satellite High, Mr. Bresette spent his summers on the piano working with northern Brevard high school students in the Brevard Summer Fine Arts Workshop. Employed by Brevard Community College, he served as rehearsal pianist, music coach, and pit pianist for the musicals Children of Eden, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and Anything Goes. This summer Mr. Bresette will lead the orchestra for the north area Summer Fine Arts Workshop.
   
   As a bassoonist and contrabassoonist, Mr. Bresette has performed across the Southeastern United States and in the Sydney Opera House and Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. He has performed with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, Albany Symphony Orchestra, Chipola Regional Symphony Orchestra, Florida State University Symphony Orchestra, FSU Opera Orchestra, FSU Wind Orchestra, Florida State Winds, FSU Symphonic Band, FSU Wind Symphony, Harmonie undergraduate winds, "Five on Tap" graduate wind quintet, "Southern Winds" graduate wind quintet, Treasure Coast Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Municipal Band, Big Bend Community Orchestra, and the Tallahassee Winds.
   
   Mr. Bresette holds the Bachelor of Instrumental Music Education degree and the Master of Music Education degree from The Florida State University. Mr. Bresette was included in the 2000 Edition of "Who's Who Among American College Students." His professional affiliations include MENC: The National Association for Music Education, The International Association for Jazz Education, Florida Music Educators Association, Florida Bandmasters Association, Florida Orchestra Association, Golden Key National Honor Society, Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honors Society, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia: Professional Mens Music Fraternity.
   
   Lastly - Mr. Bresette was recently married to Sara, a beautiful professional flutist and music educator, in June of 2006!
