John Brentnall
John Brentnall is one of three partners at The Old Pound Veterinary Centre taking particular interest in responsibility for the 3.5 person equine department.John qualified from Liverpool University in 1983.He took positions in mixed practices in Dorset, New Zealand and Wiltshire before settling at The Old Pound in 1988.
In Much Wenlock he became an assistant to the widely respected equine veterinarian Tony Bradley.In 1989 he joined Tony in partnership.
John has taken a keen interest in developing the equine side of the practice and to this end he took a six month sabbatical in July 2003 at the University of Pretoria, South Africa.As a visiting professor, he was responsible, with three other clinicians, for running the equine clinic, organising student tutorials and giving lectures.The clinic took a wide range of first opinion cases and referrals from all over the county.
As with other members of the practice he regularly updates his knowledge at professional development courses.
He is regularly on duty at local point-to-points and other equine events.
He is currently on the panel interviewing prospective veterinary undergraduates for Liverpool Univeristy.
In his spare time, John works his gundog, walks, rides and plays the piano.
