Melbourne Football Manager Greg Brentnall said,

"Apparently there's a muscle problem as well, so they don't want to operate immediately because they could be a chance of clotting. They want to let the muscle settle down for five or six days before the operation.

"At this stage, it looks like it's season-ending."

Brentnall also went on to have a go at the meaning of the match in Cairns played between the Queensland Emerging Origin squad and Queensland Residents.

"Obviously, from the kid's point of view, he wants to represent Queensland long-term so he wanted to play.

"But from the club's point of view, it's pretty disappointing that the match was even held.If you could tell me what the match was for, then maybe I could give you the club's view on it."
